President Reinharz:

Bill Ayers, the leader of the Ayers/Dohrn gang, was responsible for the murder of Boston Police Officer Walter A. Schroeder in 1970. Schroeder, a Roman Catholic, was beloved and was survived by a wife and nine children. He was shot in the back three times. Ayers and Dohrn also signed the notorious "Prairie Fire" manifesto praising Sirhan Sirhan, the assassin of Robert F. Kennedy. I find it remarkable that Brandeis would be so insensitive to the obvious pain the Schroeder family, still Boston residents, would feel by the Brandeis invitation. I guess how the Roman Catholic Community feels is not your concern. Could you send a letter to the Catholic Community apologizing for this action and the gross insensitivity that Brandeis has shown in the way they have insulted and degraded the memory of Walter A. Schroeder, and caused irrefutable suffering by his family by celebrating his murderer?

I'm all for freedom of speech. So let him speak OUTSIDE and let everyone who wants to listen show up. I'd be there with bells on. Also noise makers, loud bullhorns, firecrackers, airhorns, cymbals, chimes and anything else I can find that would help drown out his droning. I suggest to all you show up with these tools and let him know how it feels to be shouted down.

I hope Police Sgt. Walter Schroeder's daughter is in charge of his security. She's on the Waltham force.
