I disagree. The SAT is the closest thing to an objective measure of aptitude. GPAs are wildly inflated, and were personal interviews to become that important, personal interview coaching would take over the test-prep industry. APs may be indicative if you go to a good high school; I didn't. And again, were APs to become that important, AP test coaching would spring up.

The test prep industry does make the SAT slightly less objective, but it's not necessary to take SAT courses to do very well. To be blunt, the alternative for those students who are "weak on reasoning skills" is not an easier test, but rather a less academically challenging university.

"For example, I think colleges should place more emphasis on interviewing and seeing the student not just as another statistic but as a human being."

This is simply not practical with many colleges receiving 1000+ interviews every year. As good as "seeing the applicant as in individual" seems, colleges need an indicator of students' reasoning skills that is standard nation-wide.

"Furthermore, I believe that more attention should be paid to one's performance, participation and enrollment in AP courses. Like them or not, AP classes were excellent indicators of what was to come for us in the future."

Although AP exams are the same throughout the country, the way the courses are taught is not. Colleges have no idea in what kind of academic environment the student was taught the AP material. Some high school teachers give lenient grades or teach in ways that is not standard.
