Yeah!! This article is right on. When I was a student at Brandeis, Chums was by far the best location on campus for hanging out and having events. I have many a fond memory of nights crowded in for concerts and coffeehouses at Chums. It is a pity, though, that it still has that old crusty carpet and those unfortunate dorm furnitures. Chums could really benefit from a new coat of paint, some fresh carpeting, a few comfy couches, and an investment in the kitchen ware. Didn't the Student Union create a capital fund for student improvements precisely for this kind of project? It was my understanding that one of the reasons WBRS, etc. got less money was because the Union was going to take cash from them which they claimed was for equipment and put it into a larger fund that all clubs could apply to for major purchases. If that is still the case, then there is money for Chums to be had, if people would get organized and fight for it. This editorial is a great start, but for Chums to get a serious makeover, students at the University are going to have to put in a grassroots effort to make it happen. Come on Deis, you can do it!
