Sikh religion is not a branch, version, sect of Hindu-ism. Sikhi is entirely monotheistic, aggressively against caste-system, considers the world as the abode of truth and reality, and not an illusion (maya in Hindu-ism). The word hindu itself is not an idegenous name to the Brahmanical philosophies today known as hinduism, it was imported from arabic. hinduism was retrospectively inserted into the history of indic philosophy, its not a "religion" in the western sense of the term, and should not be used to appropriate unique traditions like Sikhi or Buddhism for that case. The formation of this club is reflective of the religious violence that is inflicted upon the miniorities in India, by the majority community- they either want non 'hindus' to leave the country or merge within the hindu-ism. This prejudice has been boldly incribed in the INdian constitution as well- article 25 a/b/c clauseclearly declare all indeginous religions/traditions of India (incld. Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, trible religions) to be Hindu... this the state of the Contitution itself I suppose its only optimistic to hope for respect and justice from the ordinary people.
As a Sikh, and as an advocate of human rights, I urge you all to condemn such subtle attempts to undermine the rights and dignity of a religious miniority. I will be also confront the club organizers in person to request them to be less chauvanistic, and more responsible/respectful to the dignity of religions/peoples. I hope you will do the same.
