UCC to consider combing some requirements

Director of Residence Life Richard DeCapua and the Quad Directors of all the Residence Quads on campus discussed the progress of Thematic Learning Community (TLC)-groups of students who apply to live together based on particular themes such as healthy living.

DeCapua and the Quad Directors also answered questions from senators regarding housing for graduate and international students, an off-campus housing guide and general housing availability due to the demolition of Ridgewood Quad,

Director of Student Events Sarah Blaker '07 gave an overview of Student Events and its different departments.

Union Representatives to the UCC Ariel Strauss '07 and Kimberlee Bachman '08 talked about possible plans to combine the Quantitative Reasoning and the Science requirements and about the proposed changes to the pass/fail option.

Director of Academic Affairs Jason Brodsky '07 and the Provost Student Advisory Committee Coordinator Aaron Mitchell Finegold '09, who is also advertising editor for the Justice, talked about plans to standardize Senior Research, course evaluations and the first-year writing requirement.

Ziv Quad Senator Robbie Schwartz '08, Senator for the Class of 2008 Michael Goldman and Senator-at-Large Andrew Brooks '09 submitted a by-law amendment to prohibit clubs from excluding members based on political affiliation or ideology. It was passed.
